The city of Antwerp is known for its shopping as many people are impressed with the collection of the antiques, diamonds as well as high fashion.  Antwerp’s fashion scene has been developing over the years and comes with designer clothing. There are traders who deal in Bric-a-brac and can be found in areas such as the Kloosterstraat and Oever. On weekends the Vogelmarket is open at the Theaterplein and shoppers can also visit rommelmarkt on St. Jansvielt on Sunday and antique markets next to the Onze Lieve Vrouwkathedraal on Saturdays.

When to Shop?
Most markets in the city operate from Monday to Saturday, opening between 0900 and 1000 hours and closing from 1730 and 1830 hours. The guests can also find some of these shops open in Sundays, especially those located in the Hoogstraat area and Kloosterstrat.

Where to Shop?
The shoppers will have to choose from the main shopping precincts- the Meir and the Keyserlei, where they will encounter a wide variety of leading department stores including  the Galeria Inno  and a number of endless smaller retailers’’ collections.

Those who do not love crowds when they shop should check out the shopping streets of Huidevettersstraat where they will have a more intimate and personal experience. However, they should be prepared to spend a little more because it is generally more expensive.  It is also referred to  as the Quarter Latin and comes with a variety of up market stores such as the Korte Gathuisstraat and Schuttershofstraat.

The visitors can also shop  at the Grand Bazar Shopping Center- one of the newest malls in the heart of Antwerp, situated along the Beddenstrat and next to  the Hilton Hotel.  Formerly a historic department store, the Grand Bazar comes with a variety of small shops as well as dining terraces, where the shoppers can grab snacks and meals against a backdrop  of stylish surroundings.
